Refurbish Process
For every console to be considered in working order the following must apply:
- Multiple different games ranging in duration must work without issue on the first or second try.
- All controller and accessory ports must work.
- Power button/switch turns the console on and off.
- The TV port must display video and audio using a modern flat screen TV display.
- Reset button restarts the console.
- Plastic is not brittle and does not easily crack
- Console plays through multiple different titles for a period of 10 minutes or more.
Acceptable condition N64, Genesis, NES, SNES reset buttons WILL function.
Every console goes through all steps of our detailed cleaning process listed below.
- Opened exposing the inner components of the console.
- Thermal paste is removed and replaced if needed.
- Console shell will be cleaned in warm, soapy water until there are no signs of dirt or debris.
- Receive a sticker on the inside of the console in the hardest to reach areas. It will include the date serviced and the technician’s initials
- Consoles with a drive belt will have their belts replaced if needed.
All consoles deemed as not functioning are repaired and restored
Once the console is repaired and is considered functioning, all components are assembled and will go back through the MWGames’ testing process.
- The exterior shell of a unit that protects the inner components is cleaned from all residue, dirt, debris, sticky substances, and foreign objects. Rust, discoloration and visual deficiencies not included.
- Any screws removed from the console during any of MWGames’ repair processes are reinstalled and screws deemed non vital may be repositioned or not used for internal auditing purposes.
- If the console does not work, repairs may be made with third party parts. The console can go through any or all of these steps until it is working or it will be deemed unsaleable on MWGamesAndCards.com
- Outer shell of the console removed.
- Motherboard inspected.
- Components, such as hard drive, power supply, controller ports, cables, power button, heat shields, disc assembly, cartridge slots, pin connectors, fans, battery, etc. may be replaced.
- Capacitors or a damaged solder connection repaired or replaced.
- May receive a laser adjustment or laser replacement.
Good Condition vs Acceptable Condition
Good Used Condition Console
Consoles that will look good and work, free of dirt and debris.
- Free from stickers, writing, major chips or cracks, discoloration, and brittle plastic.
- May show minor signs of age and use.
Acceptable Condition Console
Consoles that don’t look so good, but still work, free of dirt and debris.
- Acceptable cosmetic condition.
- May have stickers, writing, and major discoloration.
- May show major signs of age and use.
Acceptable condition N64, Genesis, NES, SNES reset buttons WILL function.
Games
- Games go through an inspection and testing process to ensure a high level of workability.
- Every game’s exterior, including its exterior gameplay surface, is cleaned by hand to remove dust, debris, stickers and markers.
- Gameplay surface is inspected for damage.
- Label is inspected and cleaned.
- Label imprints are located for authenticity.
- Battery tested and replaced with a 3rd party new battery if it falls below 2.8v.
- Disc resurfacing to remove minor scratching.
Good Used Condition vs Acceptable Condition
Good Used Condition Games
Games that will look good and work, free of dirt and debris.
- Free from stickers, writing, chips or cracks and major discoloration.
- May show minor signs of age and use.
- Possible light discoloration.
Acceptable Condition Games
Games that don’t look so good, but still work, free of dirt and debris.
- Stickers or writing.
- Major discoloration.
- Possible ripped, torn, faded, stained and/or missing labels.
Disc Game Contents
Disc Only: The original game disc by itself in a paper or plastic sleeve
Complete: Includes everything the game would have included when it was new.
*Plastic game case may be third party based on availability for some platforms. Original manual may be a "View Online Manual" insert as per the manufacturer.
*During the refurbishing process original consoles, games, and accessories can have minor internal or external parts replaced with brand new 3rd party parts including but not limited to drive belts, lasers, lenses, power buttons, switches, capacitors, relays, resistors, ribbon cables, coin batteries, thermal paste, pin connectors, lids, battery terminals, wires, shoulder buttons, thumbstick caps and or mechanisms, button membranes, plastic disk cases, batteries.
MWGames Sticker
Every item refurbished by MWGames will include a hand written sticker placed somewhere on the item.
Games:
Disc based games have an MWGames sticker on the case or on the disc sleeve
Cartridge based games will be opened up and an MWGames sticker will be placed inside the shell
If the cartridge has a battery the sticker will display the voltage that the battery read by a digital multimeter when it was serviced. If the battery was replaced then it will also state that

Consoles:
MWGames stickers will be placed at the bottom of the shell, on the motherboard, and/or on the top of the shell.
